VA State Lawmaker Negligent Discharge

A VA. state lawmaker had a negligent discharge in his office.

Luckily the round spent entered a bullet proof vest hanging on his door.

He apologized to his fellow lawmakers.

What he needs to do is attend a safety course.

I will leave room for the unlikely, that is a mechanical malfunction as he cleared the weapon.

Of course Occam's razor says he had his finger on the trigger causing the negligent discharge.

The United States Navy has a nice site dealing with negligent discharges.

Basic Safety Rules:

Treat every weapon as if it were loaded

Never point your weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot

Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to

Keep your weapon on safe until you are ready to fire
